REVIEWS… authors love getting reviews. Reviews don’t only help sell books, but they also help authors get new readers. Readers’ words have power. My first go-to in searching for a book to read is recommendations from like-minded readers. I also read the five star reviews, three star reviews, and one star reviews. Sometimes the one star reviews have me buying the book since what someone may not like, another person loves. So with all that in mind and some readers telling me they have trouble leaving reviews or are denied a chance to leave a review, I thought why not have readers post their reviews directly on my website. So if you are inclined… leave a review in the comment box here for The Scarred Highlander. It could be as simple as… Loved it! Great! Not my favorite! Swoon worthy hero! Or if you didn’t care for it then say so. And if you prefer to leave a more detailed review go for it! And as always I am grateful for any and all reviews.
HUGE HUGS… Donna

Cavell first appeared in Highland Hearts.
I just finished The Scarred Highlander. It was wonderful! I can’t wait for the next one. Great job, Donna
Love, love, love it. Can’t wait for Book 2 & 3
My review – can’t find it on Goodreads.
Chieftain of Clan Murdoch is dying. He has three daughters in danger. Sends them to the monastery for safety. Then contracts a marriage for each. Cavell McRae is told by his father that he has been married to Elsie Murdoch, will become Chieftain of Clan Murdoch and pledge his allegiance to Clan McRae. This is their story.
Donna Fletcher has written another intriguing, suspenseful, witty, holding your interest from the first new trilogy, Blood and Honor. This is Book 1. Cannot wait for the next book.
What a great start to the newest trilogy! I’m already dying to read the next two books, especially Lord Slayer and Sky’s book, I’m incredibly intrigued by those two characters.
You meet The Scarred Highlander, Cavell, in Highland Hearts, a Cree and Dawn novella, which is also a great series, if you haven’t read it yet, and I’d been excited to read this story about him and his wayward wife, Elsie ever since. And let me tell ya, I was definitely not disappointed.
There’s a lot going on in this novel, mysteries and suspense, a sweetly growing love and lot of passion, interesting and intriguing characters you can’t help but fall in love with, and a serious twist that I did NOT see coming and a LOT of action. And it’s all set in the beautifully described historic Scottish Highlands.
I loved “watching” Cavell and Elsie’s relationship bloom and grow throughout the book, as well as seeing how they grew and changed as people and as a couple. They complemented each other very well, and it was great to see how Elsie and the clan accepted and welcomed Cavell into their hearts, despite the scars and fierce reputation he gained as a member of the Gallowglass.
This book is definitely going on my re-read list!!
I’m almost done with the scarred H. I absolutely love this story and the characters. Donna I have to say you are my favorite highlander story teller. You make the words come to life and I love how the H and H are together throughout the story. Instead of fighting throughout the book to get together in the end. I love the romance. I’ve decided to start over reading your books. I have quite a few in hardback of your older ones. We just don’t get these wonderful love stories anymore. The women in the today books always save themselves and the man
Just tags along. Love, love, love your books!!!
My review for this awesome book has been posted and I want to share with all of Donna fans.
Secrets, Deceived, Mystery, True Love:
First off, this awesome cover had me captured right away and then the story I read was completely all encompassing. I could not stop reading this incredible story. In my opinion it is worthy of more than 5 stars.
The excitement, the deeply moving characters, the complex plot never had a dull moment, and the romance was so emotional and heartfelt it just grips at your heartstrings as you follow the fearless Highland Gallowglass warrior Cavell who never wanted a wife and the sweet yet feisty Elsie one of three sisters which the mystery is built around.
I wish my words would convey just how incredibly good this story is.
There are many surprises, it’s brimming with excitement, terror and the ending is filled with unexpected shocks that had my heart racing.
The romance is lovely and just the right amount of passion to satisfy my enjoyment of a good historical romance book.
✔Awesome Cover 5 Stars
✔I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy for my honest thoughts and opinion.
I just finished The Scarred Highlander last night! I was held captive from the start and could not stop reading until the end. I cannot wait to read Leora and Noble’s story and then finally read Slayer and Sky’s story. I love the suspense and mystery added into this book. The Scarred Highlander kept me guessing to the very end! I came close to calling off work just so I could finish it! Can’t wait until the paperback becomes available so I can purchase it!
I loved this book. I loved the story of how Elsie was determined to help her sisters by staying married to Cavell. Cavell did not want the marriage but he could not help but fall in love with her. The story had a nice build up how their opinions changed toward each while trying to solve the mystery of who was after
Elsie and her sisters. His love made Elsie not think herseld the ugly duckling because in his eyes she was beautiful. My only regret is I read the book to fast and now I have to wait for the next book in series. If you love Donna Fetcher books this will not disappoint you.
Absolutely loved! Please don’t make us wait too long for the next one. Since it’s been a longtime since I read about Cree and Dawn and the Gallowglass would have loved a short prequel to help fill in some details about Cavil, Noble and Slayer
I love it! I can’t wait for more!
Cavell of Clan McCabe initially sought out his wife, Elsie of Clan Murdock, to dissolve the marriage. Elsie on the other hand escaped the abbey she and her sisters were sent to in search of her husband to consummate their marriage for the sake of her clan and her sisters. When the two finally met and Elsie succeeded in her plan, the unlikely couple journeyed their way back to Clan Murdock to convince Elsie’s father to bring her sisters home.
But a secret kept for many years was slowly unraveling and the more Cavell and Elsie sought answers, the closer they became and soon they realized they could not be without the other.
The Scarred Highlander is the first book in the Blood and Honor Highland Trilogy. The book started after the events of Highland Hearts. I guess I got my wish when I was hoping for a story about Cavell. And I was really happy with it!
After receiving deep scars on the face after a gruesome battle, Cavell experienced physical and emotional pain. Being used to having fair features, his scars made him doubt himself and his ability to love. But Elsie changed his way of thinking by accepting him and his scars as something to be proud of. Elsie also suffered from people comparing her to her more beautiful sisters whom she thought herself plain-featured and unremarkable. Cavell has also helped her change her outlook by making her feel beautiful inside and out.
Donna has weaved their tale in such a way that makes you want to root for their happily ever after. With every trial that they face, they come out stronger because they deal with it together. And I love how she ends with a slight peek at what is to come in her next book. It makes you anticipate and excited for what’s to come next.
Cavell finds himself married to Elsie when he really wants to be married to no one. Elsie needs this marriage so she can free her sisters so, she tricks Cavell into consummating the marriage. What fallows is a beautifully written story that brings the characters alive on the screen. These are people you want to know and would be praying that they found happiness if they were real. The honesty of Donna Fletcher’s writing grabs the reader and holds their attention from page one until the next book. You want to know more about the secondary characters, which will be leads in future books, and you crave their stories. There is mystery, action, romance, passion, and such tender love conveyed on page after page and you just don’t want the book to end.
I would easily give The Scarred Higher 10/10⭐ with 5/5 going towards the passion and romance score and 5/5 going towards the plot, writing, and character development.
I received an ARC of this book and am volunteering my own review.
