Another great read by Donna Fletcher, and an excellent start to her newest trilogy. Donna is my favorite author when it comes to historical romances, and this book definitely doesn’t disappoint.
To start, the MCs:
Shade, the heroine, is a bit different from most heroines in historical romances in that she’s 26, rather than being in the more typical age range of 17-22. This gives our heroine a sense of wisdom and maturity that is often missing from other younger heroine’s due to their life experience. She’s a gentle, intelligent, and courageous woman, as well as being a very skilled healer. Part of what allows her to be such a skilled healer is a touch of the paranormal.
(Which I find is common in a lot of historical romances. And I always enjoy that little hint of the unusual in stories that can’t be classified as being a paranormal romance.)
Quint: Our hero is a good but heartbroken and troubled man bent on revenge. He’s also intelligent and has the capacity to love fiercely. And, of course, he’s also a very skilled warrior with a fearsome reputation.
So what happens when a healer who’s forced herself to be content with her solitary life, though she still battles the loneliness that plagues her, knowing she’ll likely never marry or have children, and a strong, protective warrior seeking revenge on the men responsible for the death of his beloved wife, come together at a beautiful cottage deep in the woods?
Well, you’ll just have to read the book to find out. 😉 But I will say that the story is filled with love, suspense, action, mystery, and just that hint of the paranormal that I mentioned earlier. And while the book does end with an HEA, the story is far from over. And that, my friends, is a very good thing indeed!

Just finished “CHERISHED BY A HIGHLANDER”,and thoroughly enjoyed it. Donna Fletcher has another hit on her hands. The entire primise of the book/series is an intriguing one. Donna catches with the first sentence and never let’s go until the last sentence. The story continues to resonate after you’re done reading it.
Thanks for a wonderful vacation in the Highlands, Donna.
Much love,

I couldn’t agree more with Danielle’s review! The main thing that I can add is my appreciation for the way Donna keeps us on our toes! I always love Donna’s books because we get to the point in the story where your mind starts to spend multiple storylines for the possibility of who the main culprit is in the motivation behind it. Rarely have I ever been correct, but I do love that it keeps me invested in the story. It also makes me think I’m a little bit creative at times with the scenarios I spin. I love that initially I can guess who some of the characters may be, However the meat of the story surrounding the mystery, is on an entirely different level than where I was taking it. Can’t recommend Donna’s books enough and as always, I cannot wait to read the next in line!!!

Cherished by a Highlander review
Well written, enticing, entertaining action packed new series by Donna Fletcher. Intense , witty, depicting the highlands nature, fear, love, and how stories grow are just a part of this saga.
Shade is a healer. Quint is her patient. He shows his Quint side in helping Shade and them getting to know each other. His life is revenge. Hers is helping those in need. He has a big secret. Things can change when she finds out who he really is. I couldn’t put it down.

A great new trilogy has just been released. Donna has her imagination and love for the highlands in this 1st installment. Quint is a highland warrior seeking revenge for the brutal death of his wife Amara. Shade is a gifted 26years healer with certain abilities that must be protected. This incredible series has plenty of mystery, hope, forgiveness, fierceness and plenty of twists and turns. Sometimes the hunter can become the hunted, but sometimes that’s what the hunter needs. Through Quints revenge and Shades Healing they just may discover the beginning of some truths.

Donna Fletcher has once again wrote an amazing story that was full of emotions. Cherished by a Highlander is the first book of the Highland Revenge Trilogy and begins with the story of Shade and Quint.
I love every moment of the story. It was well written that the characters didn’t feel out of place and their development was well thought off.
Shade was a refreshing change as a heroine. A bit older than the usual age group that Donna usually writes. And her struggle at life and love was really relatable, especially for someone like me who has already passed her “child-bearing age”. The fear, the doubt, the hope and the trust she has for her partner can be felt throughout the story.
Quint was also a slight change from the usual male protagonist. He was a warrior who experienced love and loss. He wasn’t a clan leader, just a regular warrior finding love a second time. (Unless Donna has a surprise up her sleeve in the next two books, then it will be a welcome surprise.)
The story was intriguing as well. There were so many elements that kept you reading and wondering what will happen next. When will the leader, Ryland return to the clan? Are the rumors true about him and Torrance true? Why is Dru hiding? (Although, this I have an idea but it might be a spoiler so I won’t say anything.) There are still secrets that need to be revealed and I’m excited to find out on the next book.
All in all, Cherished by a Highlander kept me reading, hoping the answer would reveal itself on the next page. So many small stories that are intricately woven together that I’m sure will be answered at the end of the trilogy. I’m really excited for the next book to come up. I hope it’s soon.
